Season of Passion

Autumn

the sensual season

thick and ripe with life.

~

Sun-kissed days

warm and tender.

Cool breezes on bare skin

like fingertips gently caressing.

~

Intoxicating aromas and tastes

succulent, juicy pears

warmed, spiced cider

exciting the taste buds,

begging for more.

~

Leaves changing

fiery reds, shimmering golds

passions inflamed.

~

Colors intensify

building to a climax

heady, fecund

erotic smells envelop me

~

Soon

rhythms gently slow

Mother Nature preparing,

ready to wrap the Earth

in a cooling blanket of white.

  1. Definitely a passionate season :-)

  2. This is so lovely, with a very subtle yet thoroughly effective sensual undertone. Well done LuAnn. I love this much!

  3. Very sensual, indeed. I hope it works on you and some of your friends. Beautiful poem, LuAnn

  4. You just keep getting better with each message.

    • Thanks Marsha. I have never thought I could write poetry. The first poem I posted “Did You Know?” was something I started many many years ago and the timing was just not right for me. When I decided to pick it up again, I wrote it in 20 minutes. Go figure! I find that I am enjoying expressing myself like this.

  5. You definitely capture the essence of the season…

  6. I agree with Marsha!

  7. Beautiful, impactful. Love it.

  8. Lovely “capture” of the moment :)

  9. You captured the beauty of this season with your words beautifully. :) Enjoy the best time of the year.

  10. I love this, I have read so many words about the bleakness of autumn, but this is rich, vibrant, warming (to the insides) and a pleasure to read.

  11. So I’m smiling (hugely)! The photo is very lovely but the poem, sigh, this is a beautiful sensual poem LuAnn, yes I am smiling my friend and very happy for you and your emerging talent! Sending warm thoughts (it’s brisk out there isn’t it in the evenings) and hugs to you this day! Penny :)

    • I have you to credit with giving me that little nudge I needed. This one was fun to write, a little sensual but subtle is what I was hoping for. It is getting cold here at night so we are beginning to head further south. Hope you have a lovely week Penny. :)

  12. Autumn here is indeed slow. Today is just warm, warm, warm. Yikes. How I wish Fall stays longer like how Summer had this year. Now, I feel like the blanket of white is still a long way to go.

  13. Such a beautiful poem for Autumn. Thanks, LuAnne!
