Equanimity

sunrise over the pacific

In the stillness

of the morn,

~

a moment before

daylight is born,

~

a fluttering feeling

in my soul,

~

equanimity’s

gentle pull.

  1. Beautifully whispered! Nothing is more beautiful than the light from the rising sun.

  12. amazing photo and lovely poem! thanks for the tonic for the eyes and soul!z

  13. Fantastic eye candy! I agree with Nina, this one is looking for a wall to hang on. You almost inspire me to get my lazy behind out of bed before the sun comes us….. ;)

    • I am not always one to get out the door this early but I promised myself more sunrises this year (where I actually take the photo) and I got lucky on this particular morning. :)

      • It’s them little miracles I referred to in my last post! My problem (well, just one of them) is that I have about a half hour drive to get to the beach. Here in Coquille, I’m surrounded by houses and power lines and stuff… ;) Now if I could just roll out of bed and have a view like yours (ever changing), that might be a different story.

      • Believe me, if I had to get into the car and drive to get to the sunrise, it’s not happenin’! :)

  14. Both the picture and the poem are beautiful.

  15. Mornings can be so breathtaking as evidenced by your beautiful photo. Arrived in QZ today and ….brrrrr. Hope it warms soon. :-)

    Much love,

  18. Beautiful words with a stunning photo.

  19. Wow, that’s beautiful. I guess next you’ll be learning to play the piano … I don’t know, when I read your poetry, I just hear a piano tinkling away in the background. Oh … and the Japanese just called, they wanted me to tell you to stay away from the Haiku … “That’s ours”, they said.

    • Or perhaps you could teach me to play the guitar? I seem to recall a pen party at PJT where a certain Resv Mgr turned into a D Boggs groupie when he started to play! Thanks Devon for the kind words and I don’t think Haiku is in my future, so no worries from the Japanese. :)

  20. Beautiful with a fantastic picture to go with!

  21. Absolutely beautiful…..the picture and your poem. A calming, uplifting view….much preferred over the grey skies of Ohio! When are you heading our way? Xoxo Donna

    • Thanks Donna. It has been sunny here but colder than usual. We are leaving So Cal at the end of this month and will spend Feb in AZ. We plan to be in Ohio around the first part of April. We are looking forward to seeing you both. Hope you are enjoying retirement. :)

  22. Wow. A quiet and power message and an absolutely stunning image LuAnn. I instantly feel like I am standing there on the beach after an amazing sunset and listening to the peaceful sounds of waves and the words. What a breathtaking post. Thank you.

    • I will continue to write Penny. For the past several weeks I have felt the need to step away from the computer a bit. I find it difficult to balance the many blog sites I want to visit and respond to all my commenters without spending so many hours at the computer. Taking photos and being out in nature is so important to me that I was beginning to feel a bit stressed. I found myself writing while sitting down at the beach or composing while walking along the beach so now to put them into posts with photos. Thanks always for the encouragement Penny.

  32. Beautiful, LuAnn. There’s a soft breathy quality to both the picture and the words. Stunning.
